Daphne always wanted to be a supermodel and a detective as a youngster, according to Scooby-Doo: Behind the Scenes (which disappointed her parents). Her ambitions had an impact on her personal life; whenever she went on mysteries with the gang, she was always late for dates; they deny rumors that they are dating.

Daphne’s father lent them money to get started, and prior to buying the Mystery Machine, Daphne gave her folk’s gasoline money so they could go wherever there were mysteries to solve.

When “Whodunnit?” returned to the series in The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show (later retitled The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries), Daphne returned as an expert investigator aided by Shaggy and the two dogs, investigating supernatural events.
