If you are considering going virtual with your next conference, there are many advantages to using this online parallel.
Here are a few:
- Travel Costs: Virtual Conferences allow participants to eliminate the costs associated with travel; not to mention the challenges of being away from the office (and family).
- Flexibility: Participants have the flexibility of arranging their conference schedule at a moment’s notice. If you are in the wrong session or want to switch, you can transfer sessions.
- Go back and re-watch your favorite sessions and/or view ones you missed: Concurrent sessions can be viewed later, due to the archiving feature which allows sessions to be saved. Rewind or fast forward to make sure you don’t miss any important information! If you are able to access information more than once, you can be sure to absorb all of the content discussed.
- Documented interaction: In each session, there is a chat box in which you can interact with other attendees and give/receive input on a given topic. You can ask questions, answer questions, or observe others’ conversations. When the event is over, the chat is saved. Participants are able to review all conversations for as long as the host decides.
The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization recently hosted their 2012 Volunteer Leadership Virtual Conference, held July 30 – August 3, 2012 using these principles. Join CommPartners and NHPCO on October 18th at 1:00pm ET as we host a FREE case study around this successful virtual event, and walk you through the planning process for hosting your own virtual conference. We’ll discuss 1) the reasons for considering a virtual conference for volunteer leadership, and 2) the evaluation process (what criteria was used to determine the pros and cons) and talk about the process this association went through.
